What is coworking and why might it interest you?

The figure of the digital nomad has not stopped expanding due to the evolution of technology, and in recent years. With the restrictions caused by the coronavirus, the trend has accelerated strongly, somewhat causing a boom.

As has happened in other situations, a revolution generates many opportunities around it and in this case it was not going to be any different. We are talking about coworking, which is a shared work space, usually offices, where different companies and professionals work.

Although much of the growth may come from digital nomads, it has positive aspects for all types of companies.

One of the most notable advantages for companies that decide to use coworking is cost savings. There are all prices, but the most normal thing is that it is much cheaper to reserve a space in an authorized building than to prepare your own office. Likewise, you may not have to have a space permanently reserved. For example, it is possible that in the day-to-day life of the company all workers do so from home and that it is only necessary to have a meeting room from time to time. Another case would be the common areas, it is not necessary for each company to have its own dining room or cafeteria unless it is very large.

Just because it is cheaper does not mean that the quality is lower. The spaces are shared between more companies and generally a more efficient allocation of costs is achieved, achieving more for less.

It is a solution for digital nomads. There are more and more people who, thanks to teleworking, decide to live traveling while maintaining a stable job. Despite that adventurous life, they must have a space where they can work comfortably and that is exactly what this type of office offers. Have a place adapted to work for a short period of time, even days, with everything that a good fixed office can offer, meeting rooms, large spaces, common areas to rest, dining room, etc.

Due to the fact that several companies, professionals and entrepreneurs coexist in the same common areas, the networking networks that are formed are another of the strong points. The situation lends itself to being in one where you can often meet different people, with their respective experiences and vision. It is not surprising that it can be an incubator of ideas without intending it. The same goes for potential clients.

Is it all positive? Of course it can never be perfect, for example there may be situations in which it is much more useful to have your own office with everything 100% adapted to the desired company culture. In addition, in any case you would be renting a space, it may be a very profitable option in the short term but not so much in the long term.

Another negative point is the rigidity of schedules, it is normal for them to be open during daylight hours. But what if you need to work at night? It is very difficult to find coworking spaces open 24 hours a day, although it is possible that over time there will be more and more adapted to all types of schedules. It may be more profitable to have all spaces in the building occupied during all hours of the day, rather than just part of it.

What is our opinion?

We are always in favor of new ideas, although this does not mean that we detract from traditional ones. Coworking is something we especially like because it is in line with our vision. It helps empower each worker and make it as easy as possible for them to establish themselves as a self-employed professional. Helps entrepreneurs with comfort, flexibility, costs, networking.
