LinkedIn: The 15 most demanded jobs in Mexico

Linkedin has carried out a study on the professions that will be most in demand in 2021. As we all know, the coronavirus has changed many aspects of our lives, and in the workplace it has been one where it has most affected us all, either by passing from working in the office to working from home, for having been temporarily unemployed, for having had to work more hours than we used to, as in the case of health personnel or basic need jobs, etc.

We found it to be a very interesting study, especially if we are thinking of making some changes in our professional life or we are going to start developing in the work environment. In addition, the study is broken down by country, so it can be especially useful if we are considering changing countries. In this case, we are going to talk specifically about Mexico.

Most in-demand jobs:

1. Specialized medical professionals: due to the health emergency caused by the coronavirus, the demand for these professionals sharply increased during 2020, specifically by 91%. The specialty in which there was a greater growth is in nursing with 171%.

2. Sales and business development positions: the pandemic forced us to redefine many areas of our lives and with it the needs of each one as a customer. As new needs arose, companies had to reinforce their positions with the entry of more professionals.

3. Creative services: many freelancers knew how to take advantage of teleworking, being aware that every threat can also be an opportunity. One of the job types he grew out of the most was content creators.

4. Education: due to the pandemic, several restrictions were imposed on the education sector, forcing teaching methods to change in the blink of an eye. To adapt, it was necessary to hire new staff at all levels.

5. Digital Marketing Professional: The e-commerce is here to stay and the pandemic gave it a good boost. To take advantage of this trend, companies increased their investment in digital marketing with new employees, especially in social networks. Most of these people previously worked as freelancers.

6. Real estate: due to mobility restrictions, new and more needs arose within our homes and in the same way, the need to find one that would satisfy all our needs. The drop in interest rates also benefited this trend, increasing new employees by 54%.

7. Insurance: when living such complex moments, many thought again which things are more important and which are less. These reflections have translated into a greater interest in insurance of all kinds.

8. Technology: with 57% more vacancies, the technology sector does not stop growing, with the most sought-after attitudes being: cybersecurity, user experience (UX), Unity, JavaScript, React.js, Angular JS, Git and SQL.

9. Health support personnel: as we saw in the first position on the list, the demand in the health field was very high, beyond doctors or nurses, other support professions were also very important.

10. Mental health professionals: beyond suffering the coronavirus as a disease, the stress due to all the damages suffered in family members, financial problems and other disorders, caused the demand for mental health professionals to be very high. It should be noted that the majority were women.

11. E-commerce professionals: electronic commerce appears again, although in the same way that it happens with health, it is not something that is difficult to imagine. The hires were across the board from physical to digital.

12. Business positions: the world changed almost overnight so business strategies and ways of satisfying the customer also had to. It is the profession on the entire list with the highest average age, specifically 34 years.

13. Specialized engineering: this category was already having a high growth in the previous years. Contrary to those we have seen previously, the pandemic has not boosted the number of hires, but it has not hurt it either.

14. Customer service: dealing with the customer was also forced to be different, causing new staff needs in 58%. Customer service methods went from being physical to virtual.

15. Data and analysis: the management of large databases is increasingly important, since the performance that we can obtain from them is greater. The growth of new employees was 68%. In this case, the vast majority with 82% of the total are men.

One thing to keep in mind is that in the professions mentioned above, the only place that is repeated in all of them is Mexico City, although there are other places such as Guadalajara, Monterrey or Tijuana that are also repeated in several.

Another piece of information that we can take into account is that there are still many hires according to stereotypes, the health-related positions, most of the hires have been for women while those related to information technology and technology have been more for men.
